The Step Forward Fund has £8,000 available for your BIG IDEAS!
We're putting the power in the hands of the community to vote on which causes receive local funds, giving neighbours a say on projects they’d like to see in their area.
If you have a brilliant idea for a community project in Ancoats & Beswick or Clayton & Openshaw, the Step Forward Fund could be your step in the right direction!
Applications are open to anyone, whether you’re taking your first steps or next steps towards getting your project going.
Better yet, your neighbours will have the power to vote on where our funding goes!
There will be £8,000 available on the night of our Step Forward event, thanks to match funding from MCRactive.
OR
Applications open on Monday 27th November and close on Sunday 10th December.
Please only apply if you or a member of your team are available to pitch at our Step Forward event.
We've teamed up with Hallé St. Peter's to host a magical showcase of community power.
Join us on Wednesday 20th December for the Step Forward event and Community Christmas at The Hallé.
As well as community pitching and voting, we will be joined by the Hallé's wonderful choirs singing your festive favourites.
Come along for a meet and greet with Santa, free mince pies and mulled wine, crafts, and more.
We will also be running a food bank donation, so please do bring along canned, jars and dry foods for local community groups to distribute.
Applications open on Monday 27th November 2023 and close on Sunday 10th December 2023.
After you submit your application, a member of the Step Up MCR or MCRactive team will be in touch to chat about your idea and see where we can strengthen your application. There might be parts of your idea we think you could emphasise more, or things you forgot to mention. It’s a chance for us to gather everything we need for shortlisting.
Shortlisting will be supported by people living and working in our communities.
If you are shortlisted, Step Up MCR will support you with training for your pitch.
If you are not shortlisted, you will receive useful feedback from the Step Up MCR team. We also may still be able to support your idea. Check out our Community Offer page to find out how.
6 Write a description for this list item and include information that will interest site visitors. For example, you may want to describe a team member's experience, what makes a product special, or a unique service that you offer.
Once everyone has finished their pitch, neighbours will use tokens to decide which projects they would like to support.
We'll count up the votes while the Ancoats Community Choir sings festive carols with neighbours.
Our winners will be announced on the night!
Funding will be subject to due diligence checks and a signed grant agreement with monitoring conditions. Once funding is received, Step Up MCR will support you throughout your project and check in to make sure everything’s going to plan.
