We're thrilled to have recently launched our audio walking play, Walk This Play: Monuments, produced by the fantastic team at ThickSkin Theatre for audiences in and around Ancoats.
Monuments guides you around the Ancoats cobbles, old and new, asking you not to overlook the buildings and the communities that make the area unique.
The FREE audio play launched on Sunday 30th May at Cutting Room Square in Ancoats, where we were lucky to be accompanied sunny skies and wonderful partners- including ThickSkin, Canal & River Trust, Buzzin' Sounds Recording Studio, The Wellbeing Bistro, and The Resonance Centre.
ThickSkin joined us with live music, a photo gallery of Ancoats, and a recorded dance piece featuring locations from around the walk. We also had some fantastic plant-based food, courtesy of The Wellbeing Bistro and The Resonance Centre.
We partnered with One Manchester to commission ThickSkin Theatre to create an exciting immersive community experience to take people on a journey through Ancoats. The commission was made possible through funding from Arts Council England and Great Places.
We want to say an enormous thank you to the many partners and volunteers who supported the event, we couldn't have done it without you!
We're so excited to share some footage and reviews of the event, but for now, make sure to check out the walking play, available until October. Simply download the ECHOES app, plug in your headphones and press play.
