Chatty Craft

Chatty Craft is a 2-hour craft session run from Beswick Library every other Thursday morning. Led by the Royal Exchange Theatre, the free sessions provide a space for creativity and friendship.

The mixed-ability group produces high-quality crafts with the guidance of Community Artist Sam Edwards, whilst providing an inclusive environment to chat and make connections with fellow members.

The sociable sessions provide a therapeutic environment for the local community. Somewhere to come together, enjoy a cup of tea and a biscuit, create lovely things, and build lasting connections.

Sam, Lead Artist, says:

“It’s free arts activities. I think we all deserve art. Any spaces that can be cultivated to help people access art, that wouldn’t ordinarily, is important because we all deserve the nice things”.

“It’s nice to just get out of the house for a couple of hours. Mix with people and do something you never thought you’d do.” – Chatty Craft Participant.

“My favourite part is arriving. And then it feels like relief, it’s like a big hug. Sounds like a cliché that doesn’t it? But it feels like that when you arrive and you think–ahh, somewhere nice. And I like the people here.” – Chatty Craft Participant.
